Program: Tools, Tips and Techniques for Writing Effective Résumés

A résumé is an important tool when looking for your next position, and you’ll want to keep it updated.  In this program, Marilyn Feldstein and Lynn Higgison will teach you everything you need to know to write and update your résumé.  They both recently attended a conference with some of the top résumé writers in the country.  So, join us to make sure your résumé shows up at the top of the stack.

ASTD Competency Model:
The Areas of Expertise, as defined by the ASTD Competency Model, include nine critical factors needed to be a successful workplace learning professional.  This month’s CM-SIG program supports the Area of Expertise entitled, “CAREER PLANNING and TALENT MANAGEMENT.”
 

Speakers:

Marilyn Feldstein and Lynn Higgison

Marilyn Feldstein, founder and CEO of Career Choices Unlimited, Inc., is certified as a Job and Career Transition Coach (JCTC), a Professional in Human Resources (PHR), and an Administrator of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI).  She has more than 20 years’ experience in all aspects of career management and earned her master’s degree at Penn State University and her bachelor’s degree at The University of South Florida.  She has designed and conducted numerous career transition workshops.  She has also designed and delivered networking and team skills as well as communication skills training to more than 8,000 employees.  She has been featured on TV 4, Channel 47 News, National Public Radio and Clear Channel Radio discussing career-related topics and is an Adjunct Professor of Career Management at Webster University.  Marilyn is a frequent speaker at numerous professional associations discussing career-related topics, and her specialty is teaching people how to build and maintain relationships throughout their careers.  Marilyn has written hundreds of résumés and is a contributor to a number of résumé and career books.


Lynn Higgison, Management Development Specialist in the Success Academy at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and
in Behavioral Interviewing/Targeted Selection.  She has more than 20 years’ experience in corporate training and education and earned her bachelor’s degree in business from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C.  Lynn facilitates a wide variety of Leadership and Management courses at Shands.  She also teaches résumé writing, interviewing and networking classes for all interested employees on campus.   She serves as the point of contact for the entire hospital in assisting employees with updating and strengthening their résumés as well as preparing them for internal interviews.  Prior to joining Shands in 2007, Lynn worked as a HR Consultant with Right Management, a career transition and organizational development firm in Jacksonville.  Lynn assisted hundreds of employees with their résumés at Right Management and taught résumé writing, interviewing, self-marketing and networking classes for three years.
