Maintaining a Learning Management System
Presented by Jay Heather
Manager of Performance Technology
Kendle Industries
Maintaining a learning management system with hundreds or even thousands of learning events per month, along with several hundred courses and assessments during the same time period, requires up-to-date processes and accurate data.
During this session Jay Heather will discuss successful maintenance of learning management systems, and will provide a high-level view of how eLearning courses can communicate with the LMS using SCORM or AICC, the standards-based protocols that facilitate this vital com-munication. Jay will also discuss information reporting for management and cover some of the most prevalent causes for your employees saying, "I took the course but the system didn't track it."
Jay Heather began his involvement with eLearning in 1994 as the F/A-18 Computer Aid Instruction and Interactive Courseware Project Manger for the US Military. As LMS Support Manager and Consultant for Convergys from 1999 to this August, Jay implemented various systems to support the learning development of over 75,000 international employees, with the LMS at the center of all the systems. His responsibilities included developing and overseeing various reporting systems to meet the never-ending requests from domestic and international users. He has implemented LMS content from several different vendors. Now Manager of Performance Technology for Kendle International (www.kendle.com), Jay is responsible for all the training systems and development of eLearning content that will be developed using Lectora and Articulate.
