The Mobile Learning (mLearning) bottleneck has opened up. The convergence of adequate power, storage, and bandwidth have allowed mobile learning to come of age—technologically at least. What should you do with the opportunity?
Mobile Learning is defined as “Learning that takes place via such wireless devices as cell phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), or laptop computers.” by ASTD.org.
Mobile learning is a moving target. This session explores its history and future. We’ll look at case studies in business and academia and how to evaluate successful mobile programs.
At this month’s meeting you will:
· Survey the breadth and boundaries of mobile learning in search of a definition
· Determine the value proposition—when to use mobile platforms for formal and informal learning
· Navigate the range of hardware and software platforms
· Discuss solutions for instructional design methods that address the constraints of small screens
