Online
Communities of Practice
Presented by: Darryl C. Draper, PhD
Knowledge creation and
integration are in extremely important in today's global market and are
directly related to corporate learning strategies. Successful learning
organizations foster communication and collaboration among employees to
develop and grow a thriving practical knowledge base. Organizations use
online communities of practice (CoPs) as a vehicle
to foster relationships, network, and build knowledge so that
individuals effectively share and integrate practical knowledge.
The
increasing proliferation of technology and the Internet have enabled
individual and group learning opportunities to transform practical
knowledge into explicit organizational knowledge through online CoPs.
Overall
Learning Goal:
To become aware of the effectiveness of online communities of
practice within an organization.
Objectives:
- Identify the three main components of a CoP.
- Discuss the benefits of developing and sustaining CoPs in your organization.
- Discuss the learning organization.
- Identify the e-learning maturity levels of an
organization.
- Analyze key
outcomes that will enable an organization to transition into a learning
organization.
