People do judge a book by its cover -- and they do judge the professionalism of a course by its visual appearance. Even if you don't have a formal design background, you can learn simple rules and tricks to create a custom look that sets the right visual mood and tone for your course.

In this session, you'll learn insider tricks for working with colors, fonts, clipart, and other graphic elements. You will learn how to quickly create a professional-looking design scheme and graphics, even if you don't have design skills. You will learn simple rules for design - and when to break them. By looking at numerous before-and-after examples, you will gain a new appreciation for how graphic design can support - or detract from - your message.

Diane Elkins, co-founder of Alcorn, Ward, & Partners, Inc., has over 13 years' experience in the training industry. She has built a reputation as a local and national e-learning expert by presenting at local ASTD meetings and national conferences such as Training 2005 and Training 2007 in New Orleans and Orlando respectively.

Diane led development for the three e-learning programs that won the University of North Florida's Excellence in Training Award for e-Learning in 2003, 2004, and 2006.
