Collaboration in Learning:
From Design to Learning

Join us for February’s eSIG event!  You’ll want to attend this session so you can:

  • Identify the benefits of collaboration in design and learning
  • Brainstorm what prevents collaboration from taking place
  • Explore characteristics of technology that assists in collaboration
  • View QuickLessons as a sample of technology for collaborative design and learning
  • Discuss alternative technologies for collaborative design and learning
Description
Historically, eLearning has efficiently and cost effectively delivered vast amounts of content to learners.  This learning however typically takes place in isolation.  This isolated learning is one of the disadvantages of an eLearning solution.  Because adult learning is accelerated when two or more people alternate between having experience and reflecting together on that experience, collaboration is an important aspect of learning.  So with eLearning, what tools allow learners to effectively engage with one another?

Not only is collaboration essential for the learner, but collaboration is also critical for the eLearning design team as well.  Course development teams can include:
  • Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
  • Instructional Designers
  • Graphic Designers
  • Programmers
Project management can be challenging as well,  especially with geographically dispersed teams.  A single project results in exchanging hundreds of emails, passing dozens of files, and managing scattered assets.  What tools are available to support collaborative design?  The February eSIG will answer your questions about collaborative training design and delivery.
