Communicating is difficult. We all think that we speak clearly and concisely, and find it frustrating when the people we communicate with demonstrate, through action or inaction, that they did not understand a word we said.

Why is this?

Because we speak in our own language, not in the language of our students. To us, the point has been clearly made and the outcomes should be obvious. However, to those we try to communicate with, we could sound like the teacher on the cartoon Peanuts. . . “Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah.”

This course is designed to help us to realize our learning biases and focus on how our students actually learn.

We will explore:

  • How to set the stage for effective learning
  • How to speak in the language of your audience
  • How to make sure what we say resonates and is internalized
